The former Meghalaya Minister Mr Manirul Islam Sarkar passed away today

Shillong, December 03: The former Meghalaya Minister Mr Manirul Islam Sarkar 53 years passed today and the funeral will be held tomorrow at his village Chibinang in West Garo Hills District.

Mr Sarkar was elected twice to the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly from the erstwhile 48-Phulbari Constituency. He was first getting elected as MLA, as Independent Candidate in 1993 and in the year 2003 he was elected again from the Indian National Congress.

In his two terms representing the erstwhile 48-Phulbari he has been made as a minister in the Government of Meghalaya. The former minister passed away after his brief illness.

The Commissioner Secretary of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly said that they have received this news today evening that the former MLA of erstwhile 48-Phulbari Constituency passed away today.
