The general election to the GHADC will be held on 9 April 2021: Prestone

Shillong, Jan 28: The Cabinet was held today and approved that the General Election to the GHADC will be held on 9 April 2021, this was informed by the Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Prestone Tynsong.

Talking to the media after the Cabinet, Deputy Chief Minister said that the Draft electoral roll to the GHADC will be published on 4/Feb/ 2021, if there is any claim and objection should be done on or before 18/Feb/2021 and the final electoral roll will be published on 01/March/2021.

The Notification for holding election will be issued on 8/March/ 2021 last date of filling nomination will be 15/March/2021 and scrutiny will be held on the same date at 3.00 PM. Last date of withdrawal will be on 19/March/2021 and allocation of symboll will be on 22/March/2021.

Polling will be on 9/April/2021 will start from 7.00 Am to 4 PM and counting will be on 14/April/2021.

The cabinet also Approved the draft Meghalaya Electr’ic Vehicle Policy 2020, which will be effective front 1/April/2021.

To generate Additional Revenue for the State, Cabinet has decided to revise and increase booking rates of fancy numbers(motor vehicles) from existing rates.

The Cabinet has approved the amendment of necessary Meghalaya Excise Rules for the introduction of Airport Retail ‘On’ and ‘Off’ licenses.

In order to meet the supply shortage of GI pipes in Meghalaya for the implementation of the #JalJeevanMission, the procurement of GI pipes from other manufacturing units in addition to the earlier notified supplier has been approved by Cabinet today.
