Shillong, June 04: The Chief Minister today convened several rounds of high level meetings to hold detailed discussion regarding the current law and order situation in the city. After discussions were held with the coalition partners the Chief Minister also held an all-party meeting which was attended by representatives of all the political parties.
The meeting unanimously decided that all must work together irrespective of political parties in order to find a lasting solution for peace in the State. The Chief Minister also convened a meeting with the headmen and ka Synjuk Ki Nong Synshar Shnong and also met the Hawkers Association, all of whom expressed concern over the present situation and urged the Chief Minister to find a lasting solution.
Speaking to Media, the chief minister said that “As the government we are committed for permanent solution for re-location of the weeper colony, it was decided to form a high level committee to be headed by the Deputy Chief Minister Mr Prestone Tynsong, including Mr AL Hek, Mr Hamletson Dohling, Mr James K Sangma all are cabinet minister the CEM of the KHADC and the Member Secretary of the Committee is Mr DP Wahlang”.
The function of the committee is to study, the legal aspect and historical aspect; the committee also empowers to co-up members if required. The committee was asked to submit the report at the earliest. The Chief Minister appealed to all the agitating people to withdraw their agitation as the Government is committed to ensure that a lasting solution is arrived at. The Chief Minister said the solution is not on the street but the solution is on the table.
The Chief Minister also appeal to all the media to work together for bring normalcy in the state capital Shillong, the Chief Minister said that losses was there since it has been affected to many section of people the, shop keepers, labourers, farmers. He appeal let us ensure peace in the city.
