The GSU will hold election of the President and General Secretary of the Southern Zone

Shillong, Oct 6: The GSU Zone election will be held on the first week of Oct’20 for the election of the President and the General Secretary of the GSU, Southern Zone.

The exact date of the GSU elections will be declared by the newly appointed GSU Chief Election Commissioner, Shri. Rikrak G. Momin, Asst. Teacher of Baghmara Govt Boys H.S. School and the outgoing GSU President (Southern Zone), Shri. Chuba R. Marak as per their convenience.

The GSU election will be held free and fair where the GSU Units of the Southern Zone will be participating and the election rules and procedures must be strictly adhered to as laid down in the GSU Constitution specially “Article 40: Elections”.

The GSU CEC, Tura will be the observer of the election to ensure a free and fair conduct of the election. The GSU Central Executive Body reserves the right to invalidate the elections should any rules of the constitution be violated wherein a fresh election will be declared. The full tenure of the newly elected leaders will be for a five year term.

The GSU CEC, Tura wishes a successful GSU election and is giving strict directions to maintain the COVID-19 protocols and believes the election can be held because only selected numbers of unit leaders and members of Southern Zone can participate in the elections.
