Shillong, Dec 07: Air warriors and families participated voluntarily in the Swachhata campaign at Headquarters Eastern Air Command (EAC) of Indian Air Force, Upper Shillong with great zeal and enthusiasm today in furtherance of Government of India initiative towards Swachhata Mission.
The objective of the mission is by plugging awareness drive branded as “Plastic se Rakhsa-Swachhata hi Suraksha” as part of Swachhata Pakhwada. The drive was led by Air Marshal VR Chaudhari AVSM VM Senior Air Staff Officer, HQ EAC, IAF.
Personnel undertook Swachhata Misison to create great awareness in society against plastic waste. Air warriors were also sensitised to discourage use of all types of plastic items for which an alternative exist.
The aim of the drive was to inculcate Swachhata Abhiyan as part of daily life. Such Abhiyan is ingrained in Armed Forces society and the benefits are being accrued by the residents of the respective units/ camps as evident for decrease in number of vector borne diseases.
