Shillong, June 20: The five members High Level Delegation sent by the Government of Punjab under the leadership of Mr Sukhjinder Singh Randhawan cabinet minister incharge Co-Corporation and Jail today met the Meghalaya Home Minister Mr James K Sangma to seek the government attention after the threat given by some organization to the settlers at Themiew Mawlong.
Talking to Media person after the meeting with the Meghalaya Home Minister, Mr Jasbir Singh Gill Members of Parliament express his satisfaction with the outcome of the meeting, where the Meghalaya Government is sincere in resolving the Them Iew Mawlong issue and bring normalcy in the area.
Mr Gill said that the Meghalaya Government wants to come out with long lasting solution to this problem. They are hoping that the solution will come out soon and they have insisted on the need to come out with a long lasting solution once and for all.
This issues comes up again and again, they wanted that the issue is settle once and for all.When asked on what kind of solution they want, he said that he cannot say what kind of solution they would like the Meghalaya Government to take right now.
The Government of Meghalaya ha set up the High Level Committee to examine the matter and hope that it will be done very soon. When asked on the relocation, he said that the HLC is looking into the matter and whatever the Government decides they will offer to the settlers.
“We are confident that the Government is sincere to come out with a long lasting issue.When asked about the illegal settlers, he said that right now he can differentiate who are the legal or illegal. “The Meghalaya Government is in the process of identifying them. Let the Government come up with the result. The Meghalaya will be in the best position to answer on the question of illegal settlers,” he said.
To a question on their interaction with the Harijan Panchayat Committee, he said that they had discussed on the general problem which they faced. According to him, the Sikh population is concerned about their security in view of the threat by some banned organization. “We have come to instill confidence. The Sikh population here has full confidence on the Meghalaya Government.
