Shillong, Oct 29: The Adhock Genenral secretary of the band out fit Mr Sainkupar Nongtraw in the press statement said that,it is shocking to see that the former Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma is coming out with baseless allegations against the MDA government on the recent retirement of our former general Secretary Bah C. Thangkhiew.
It is clear enough to understand that our former GS had applied for retirement due to his age, of which the council had approved.The allegations made by Mukul that we want special treatment is nothing but a political trick, we want to make it clear that we do not want to hold talks with the Puppets in the State Government but with the Puppeteers from the Central Government.
Time and again they have expressed the willingness to shun the path of violence and come forward to the negotiating table. It was during the tenure of Dr Mukul that we had first declared a unilateral ceasefire to ensure that the peace talks see the light of the day.
It was Dr Mukul who had assured them to appoint an Interlocutor for pursuing the formalities of peace talks, but nothing concrete happened and we were kept in the darkness. The process derailed and crushed our aspirations.
Now the same Dr Mukul is pointing fingers at the MDA government hereby closing avenues for peace talks. Being well versed into politics and current affairs Dr Mukul should know that it was the GOI that had offered the olive branch to all militant and revolutionary groups to shun violence and join the mainstream. Now Dr Mukul wants to bypass the GOI, since the Centre is ruled by the NDA govt.
The Central government has been holding peace talks with several militant outfits in the northeastern region. The talks are progressing positively. By doing so he is creating a negative impact into our minds and the GOI as well as the GOM. It seems that Dr Mukul does not want peace but he wants us to carry on our struggle against the Govt. It was he who was instrumental in signing a peace pact with the ANVC with the help of the GOI.
The council has full faith on the MDA govt rather than the MUA team of Dr Mukul. If the MDA govt is opening doors for peace then what problems does Dr Mukul have? Does he want them to continue our struggle? or is he regretting of not making the peace initiative seriously during his tenure. They do not have any problem with Dr Mukul nor his team. It is only time that will decide the fate of his team. Said Mr Sainkupar Nongtraw in the press statement issue today to the media houses.
