The ICAR expected over 150 delegates from the region, to participate in the meeting

Shillong, Nov 19: The Indian Council of Agricultural Research(ICAR) Research Complex for NEH Region will organise the 24th Regional Committee Meeting for Zone- III (Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura is scheduled to be held at Assam Administrative Staff College, Assam, from 23rd to 24th November, 2019.

In the said meeting the Chief Minister of Assam Shri Sarbananda Sonowala , Ministers for Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Rural Development, Secretaries and other officers from Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Rural Development departments will be there to discuss the issues relating to agricultural research, education and extension and training needs of the states.

The purpose of the Regional Committee is to provide a forum to researchers and the State Government functionaries to examine the major gaps in the current research and training efforts in farming sector; identify priorities and decide agenda of research and extension education for the coming two years. The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) has set up eight Regional Committees on the basis of agro-climatic regions.

Almost, over 150 delegates from the region, including the Ministers of Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries of the concerned States are expected to participate in the meeting.
