The indefinite strike called by jugali’s enter the second day today no respond from MeECL

Shillong, July 25: The indefinite strike called by jugali’s to protest against the delay in issuing appointment letters to 466 by the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) has entered the second day.

The Jugali’s have boycotted their duties for the second day by staging an indefinite strike outside the gate of MeECL, there however seems to be no response from the power cooperation on their demand to give them in writing on the assurances made by the Chairman-cum-Managing Director, MeECL P S Thangkhiew.

It may be reminded, that Thankhiew in a meeting with representatives of the qualified jugali’s on July 24, had assured that the Merit List which will lapse on August 2, will be extended for three more months and 233 qualified jugali’s will be issued appointment letters under Phase II and later another 233 candidates will be issued under Phase III.

According to the agitated jugali’s in a brief meeting today has decided to continue their protest outside the gate of MeECL as the cooperation has remained silent on their demand even after the CMD had given them an assurance.

“We will continue our strike and if the MeECL delays in issuing a written letter to us on the extension of the merit list by three months as the present list will lapse next month, we have decided intensify our agitation by our means and methods,” the agitated jugali’s said.
