The KHADC to call for special Session to pass the resolution to implement the BEFR Act 1873

Shillong, Sept 25:  The Chief Executive member of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC)  Mr HS Shylla said that they have received the letter from the political department government of Meghalaya written by the under secretary on the memorandum submitted by the organization Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) to the then Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma demanding  for the implementation of the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation Act, 1873 to be implemented in the state of Meghalaya.

Speaking to media, said that the letter was sent to the KHADC on 19th April 2017 according to this letter the political Department Government    of Meghalaya they have refer to matter to the District Council, KHADC. After going through the letter the District Council in the adoption of rule 1952  they found that  this act  The Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation Act, 1873 wan adopted by the United  Khasi Jiantia Hills Autonomous District Council at that time.

This adoption was sign by the president of India Late Dr Rajendra Prasad on 22 April 1852, base on this the KHADC will call for the special session to pass the resolution to implement the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation Act, 1873 in the areas of the KHADC.

The KHADC will also rectify the Village and Town Police Bills passed by the KHADC but yet to get the assent of the governor. The KHADC need have this Village and Town Police so that they will man the check gate in the entry and exit point  when they will implement the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation Act, 1873.
