The MeECL purchased 395 transformers with the assistance of the state government

Shillong, March 21: Power minister Mr Sniawbhalang Dhar in the reply to the question asked by Mr Zenith Sangma, on power supply, the minister said that there are 316 villages in the state that was not having power supply due to the damaged of transformers.

The Minister inform the house that, the state government has sanction Rs.5.27 cores for purchased of 395 new transformers to replace the defective transformers. Out of 395 numbers, the MeECL have received only 147 transformers, the remaining will be received by this month.

The reason for the damaged of the transformers is due to lightning, natural calamities and oil pilferage and others unforeseen incident. The transformers once the MeECL received the transformers   it will replace the old one.
