Shillong, May 29: The Meghalaya Governor Shri Ganga Prasad visited H.L.Candle Megha Brand unit owned by Mr. Heasting Lyngdoh a Successful Entrepreneur of State Bank of India Rural Self-Employmnet Training Institute (SBI-RSETI), Ri-Bhoi District on Monday.
During the visit, the governor was accompanied by DC Mrs.R.M.Kurbah, SP Mr.S.Thamar of Ri-Bhoi District and Mr.R. Lyngdoh Manager Basin Development Unit, Nongpoh.
Mr. Heasting Lyngdoh journey started from bee-keeping to bee wax candle making business .He identified the market potential of bee-keeping business and high demand for honey and candle it inspired him to take this activity as means of livelihood and he underwent training at SBI-RSETI,Umran
After completion of the training he started with 2 bee boxes and increases number of boxes from time to time. The honey is sold at rate of Rs.600 per Kg and bee wax is use for candle making ,he also have an outlet at NH,GS road, where he display and sell honey and different design of candle are made and supplied to various part of the state and also outside the state .
With the Certificate he received from SBI-RSETI he went on to apply for PMEGP Scheme of the FY 2016-17 and got selected for this Scheme and was sanctioned a loan from SBI,Umsning branch to start up his own business unit and 4 local youths are presently employed in this business.
Senior Faculty member of (SBI-RSETI), Mr. Lucky Star Lamin, said that the institute have been helping the people especially in the rural areas to move ahead in life and to stand on their own feet and become Self-employed or to be an Entrepreneur through its various training programme (i.e. Entrepreneurship Development programme) and all the training programme held by the institute are free of cost.
