Shillong, October 23: The MYIF war Jiantia Circle met both the District Forest Officer (DFO) and the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of West Jaintia Hills District, during the meeting they have demanded to stop all illegal mining of lime stone activities at Nongtalang village under West Jaintia Hills District of Nongtalang Doloiship the federation had submitted the memorandum to both the government official.
In the meeting with the Deputy Commissioner, the DC has assured the MIYF that he will take necessary action against thus who are involved in the illegal mining activities in thus areas. The MIYF has given time to the Deputy Commissioner with two weeks times to act on their demand.
The MIYF threaten to go for agitation if the Government authorities are not taking any step, this illegal mining of lime stone has badly affected the drinking water in the down slopes and will affect the residence in and around the area which is not less than thirty thousand who were staying downstream.
In the meeting with the DFO, Jowai, the concern officer said that he will look into the demand place by the MIYF, said the president of the MIYF Mr A Gashnga.
