The MLCU will organize National Symposium on “Intellectual Property Rights”

Shillong, Dec 05: The Martin Luther Christian University will be hosting the National Symposium on “Intellectual Property Rights in the context of Traditional Knowledge and Biodiversity” in collaboration with the State Council of Sciences, Technology and Environment (SCSTE), Bio-Resources Development Centre (BRDC) and North East Slow Food Agrobiodiversity Society, (NESFAS), Shillong, which will be held on December 6-7, 2018 at the University campus, Nongrah.

 The symposium aims to provide information on the different knowledge systems in the North Eastern states of India particularly biodiversity and its conservation. It will also highlight the current scenario of the IPR in the field of academics and research.

One of the objectives of the symposium is to create awareness regarding the IPR issues in traditional knowledge and biodiversity in the field of academics, professionals, community and stakeholders.The main speakers of the symposium are Scientists from National Botanical Research Institute, Lucknow, Dr. Vivek Srivastava and Dr. Brahma N. Singh.
