Shillong, Feb 24: Whereas, the Election Commission of India has announced for holding of General Election to the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, 2023 and the date of poll is fixed on the 27th February, 2023 and date of counting is fixed on the 2 nd March, 2023.
And Whereas, it is observed that it is necessary that International Border with Bangladesh must be sealed and movement to and fro International Border should be restricted. And Whereas, if such unregulated movement of individuals between the two countries is allowed.
There is likelihood of law and order problem leading to danger to human life, safety and disturbance to public tranquility; And whereas, it has become necessary to prohibit such acts; Movement of individuals shall remain strictly prohibited within one km radius of IndoBangladesh border of East Khasi Hills District from 24th February, 2023 to 2 nd March, 2023.
Now therefore, I Shri. Sibhi Chakravarthy Sadhu, District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong in exercise of the powers conferred upon me under Section 144 Cr. P.C. do hereby prohibit Movement of individuals shall remain strictly prohibited within one km radius of Indo Bangladesh border of East Khasi Hills District from 24th February, 2023 to 2 nd March, 2023.
This order shall come into force with immediate effect and remain in force until further orders. Given under my hand and seal this day the 24th February, 2023, the order was issued by the Mr.Sibhi Chakravarthy Sadhu, IAS, Deputy Commissiner of East Khasi Hills District.
