Shillong, December 24: Probably most of us have learned that the Five Judges Constitutional Bench of Honourable Supreme Court on Aadhaar will begin its hearing on some 28 petitions against Aadhaar from 17 January, 2018 which was earlier announced that it would be held sometime in November, 2017. Therefore, in the better interest of many, we have the privilege to share.
That those who have already done Aadhaar enrolment earlier but now would like to opt out or to withdraw, the opportunity is there to file an individual affidavit before the Honourable Supreme Court.
That should there have been any sort of coercion, intimidation, threat including warning of punitive action to be taken for non-enrolment, that is by any kind of authority, like Government Departments and agencies, banks, traditional institutions and others, you may similarly file affidavit (s) before Honourable Supreme Court.
That should anyone have been threatened that you will be denied obtaining PDS, school and/ college admission and scholarships, etc., for not having Aadhaar card, you too may file similar affidavit(s).
That there are pensioners who have been intimidated for Aadhaar enrolment otherwise, they would be denied receiving their due pensions and might have have so denied, they may file affidavit(s).
That should there have failures in the process of authentication with the authentication machines and any other technical fault or problem, may similarly file affidavit(s).
As time is short and such document have to be processed here before conveying to Honourable Supreme Court within the stipulated time, the KSU Office Central Body at Jaiaw, Shillong would be made available on Tuesday, 26 December, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. to do the filing and filling ofaffidavits as indicated. Therefore, feel free to come and do the necessary on 26 December, 2017 to the KSU Office at Jaiaw, Shillong.
The Meghalaya Peoples’ Committee on Aadhaar would like to also remind that both Union Government and Honourable Supreme Court have extended the date of linking Aadhaar with bank accounts and mobile connection and of other some 100 Government schemes till 31 March, 2018.
However for both fresh applicants for bank deposit and mobile connection, the earlier announced last dates remain unchanged taht is if you cannot wait for the Honourable Supreme Court’s final rulling on Aadhaar to be given on or after 17/01/2018 and in which, there are some 28 petitions against Aadhaar awaiting decision and ruling by the Supreme Court. Said Mr Auguster Jyrwa Rev. K. Pyrtuh Rev. Dr. P. B. M. Basaiawmoit in the Press statement.
