The NEHU organized Lecture on ‘Japan-India Relation in the Indo-Pacific’

Shillong, Nov 22: The North-Eastern Hill University in collaboration with the IRIS Club of NEHU organised a lecture on ‘Japan-India Relation in the Indo-Pacific’ on 21st November 2019.

The lecture was delivered by Mr. Toshihide Ando, Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of Japan in India. Mr. Ando dwelt at length on the various types of collaboration that Japan and India are having in recent times for shared prosperity, security and destiny.

He also mentioned about nine ongoing and three new ODA projects being taken up by the Government of Japan for the development of the North Eastern Region.

The lecture was attended by large number of PG students, research scholars and faculty of the University. Prof. S.K. Srivastava, Vice-Chancellor, NEHU in his address thanked the Embassy of Japan for its proposal to take 24 students of the University for a visit to Japan under the IRIS programme.

Earlier, welcoming the guests, Prof. Bhagirathi Panda, Dean, SEMIS outlined the importance of increased cooperation between both the countries for a secure, stable and sustainable world.
