Shillong, Dec 06: The new Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2019 is not acceptable as the entire Meghalaya is not excempted.
The Chairman of COMSO mention that only three tribal area of Assam is excempted, Manipur entirely under Cab, the non Tribal area of Tripura is not excempted.
Meghalaya is a state without ILP system; the Governor did not give his assent to the MRSSA amendment ordinance 2019 so Meghalaya will be a safe place for the Bangladeshi original who became India citizen through Cab.
The clause which decreased the number of year from 11 year to 5 year in other to enable the Bangladeshi Hindu etc to get citizenship by naturalisation still remain and this has not been excempted.
Now any Hindu Bangladeshi if they came in India only after 5 year they will be Indian citizen. It’s just a matter of five year where the 2 crocre Bangladeshi Hindu and other will be an indian.
On this point , the Confederation of Meghalaya Social Organization (COMSO) reject the citizenship amendment bill 2019 and we demand that this bill should not be pass. Said Mr Robertjune Kharjahrim Chairman of COMSO.
