NF Railway taken steps to increase mobility of trains to enhance operational efficiency

Maligaon, May 13: The Northeast Frontier Railway has taken a number of steps to increase mobility of trains to enhance operational efficiency.

The underlying proposition is that if we can reduce avoidable waste of time then we can run trains faster. With this aim, 25 trains have been speeded up to reduce running time by average 23 minutes.

Along with this the stoppage time of 122 trains at different stations has also been reduced. Among these are 33 trains at Guwahati, 16 trains at Rangiya, 71 trains at New Jalpaiguri and 2 trains at Katihar. It is also being planned to reduce running time of 10 more trains by an average of 24 minutes each in the coming months.

To supplement these efforts, N. F. Railway is recruiting more train drivers. There are at present 1045 Assistant Loco Pilots and 1103 Loco Pilots in N. F. Railway. The process for recruiting 1341 more Assistant Loco Pilots (drivers) have already started.

The N. F. Railway has also taken steps to increase Operational Efficiency by addition of more infrastructures for capacity enhancements.

Towards this end a number of Double Line are being constructed and loop lines are being added in stations to make them capable of handling more trains. Many stations are being modernized to make them capable of handling more traffic.
