The NGOs from South Garo Hills stage protest inform of the MeECL and PWD office in Baghmara

 

Tura, August 31: The NGOs from South Garo Hills today stage a protest at the office of the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) and of the National Highway of the PWD department in the head quarter of the District of Baghmara.

The protest of this NGOs from South Garo Hills, to make the government heard about the problem of the people facing due to fluctuation in electricity in the South Garo Hills and East Garo Hills District due to the damage of the transformer at Nangalbira power station where the MeECL did not repair.

The MeECL give the power supply to this two district by taking from Resubelpara of the North Garo Hills District, this has create inconvenience to the people of the two district, the organization demand from the government to restore back the power station at Nagalbibra.

On the road condition in the whole District of South Garo Hills is very bad shape said the president of the GSU who spearhead the protest, they have written to the government many time but nothing was done, they have no alternative but to protest inform of this two office of the Government.

The Power minister Mr Sngewbhalang Dhar told SP News Agency that since he has just take charge he has no comment, until he get the feedback from the officer of the  MeECL on the problem face by the people of this two District.
