The office of the Seng Samla Shnong Laitkor Pyllun funded from the CMSDF-2019-2020

Shillong, Jan 30: The Chairman, Meghalaya State Planning Board and MLA and MDC of Nongkrem Constituency, Mr. Lambor Malngiang today inaugurated the office of the Seng Samla Shnong Laitkor Pyllun at Laitkor, Shillong in the presence of Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District, Kum. I Laloo.

The building was constructed under Chief Minister’s Special Development Fund 2019-2020 and Outstanding Youth Club Award 2019-2020.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri. Lambor Malngiang termed the occasion as a winning moment for the youth of the constituency. Lauding the efforts of the Seng Samla Shnong Laitkor Pyllun for having worked tirelessly for the welfare and upliftment of the youth, he said that the involvement of youth is crucial for the progress of society.

Citing that numerous awards and citations conferred on the Seng Samla Shnong Laitkor Pyllun, Shri. Malngiang appreciated the efforts put in by the Seng Samla in setting up the task force to sanitize schools in the constituency during the Covid-19 pandemic. He also urged upon the Seng Samla to organize progammes aimed at sensitizing the youth on the menace of alcohol and drug addiction which is a continuous threat to the youth of the constituency and the state as a whole.

Kum. I Laloo addressing the gathering lauded the good works of the Seng Samla in its 11 years of existence and expressed hope that the inauguration of the new office building will give a huge fillip to its work. Terming youth as “living assets”, she reiterated the importance of their participation in the improvement of education, maintenance of peace and cleanliness etc. She also urged upon the youth to refrain from vices and opined that the example set by the Seng Samla Shnong Laitkor Pyllun will be emulated by others.

On the occasion, Shri. Lambor Malngiang also issued work orders for the Renovation of the Community Hall at Laitkor Mawrie Lumheh amounting to Rs. 5, 00, 000/- and for the Extension of the Community Hall at Laitkor Nongdaneng amounting to Rs. 6, 00, 000/-.

Earlier the Deputy Commissioner administered the “Water Pledge” to conserve water and sustain sanitation and hygiene. Song and dance performances added colour to the celebration.

Others present were, BDO, Mylliem C&RD Block, District Youth Coordinator NYKS, Shillong, Chairman, Rangbah Shnongs, Executive Members of the Laitkor Dorbar Pyllun and representatives from the Seng Samla and Seng Kynthei.
