The operation against militant in Garo Hills will continued: SK Jain

Shillong, July 01: The New Director General of police Mr SK Jain after taking charge said that the operation against the militants in Garo Hills will continue, and the law of the land and policy of the government will be the guiding force for the police headquarters.

In his written statement read out before the media he said that “I will continue to serve the state and society at large with total commitment, dedication and professionalism at my command; I expect same from all officers and men of Meghalaya Police under my command”

The operations against militants and criminal elements in all parts of the state will continue relentlessly and with vigor to ensure that leaders, commanders and cadres of various groups are neutralized and forced to bow before the, law of land and security apparatus of the state.

He said that he will ensure that central Arms police forces and state special operation teams deliver their utmost and their concerns, if any are also addressed effectively with support and cooperation of State Government.

“I would ask families of militants and criminals to refrain from colluding with their sons and husbands as they became equal partners in their crimes and anti-people activities.

He clearly state that “We need to fine tune internal administration of the organization at various levels for better effectiveness, improved efficiency and quality public service delivery, with full support from Government and willing cooperation of key officers in the Districts and Police Headquarters, we may be able to ensure it in the coming weeks. Rehab of surrendered groups/militants/disbanded organization requires concerted attention and systematic approach by all stake holders. This will be another area of priority.

It will be my endeavour to take Police closer to Public and will not shy away from engaging in dialogue, with various public spirited groups or NGOs and community leaders to decide the way forwards in reducing the conflict and better understanding and appreciation of different view point  on as to haw the police need to serve the people.Meghalaya police acknowledge the contribution by the former DGP Rajiv Mehta.
