Shillong, July 15: The North East Executive Cpuncil (NEEC) of the Janata Dal (United) has taken serious consideration the necessity of having patient guest house due to the increasing number of patients intending to avail the cheap and efficient medical care being provided by the North East Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS).
The Cancellation of the programme for laying of the foundation stone by the Meghalaya Chief Minister Mr Conrad K Sangma for the Nagaland Medical Lodge at Mawdiangdiang on the 10th July 2018 is because of the stiff opposition from the student body Khasi Student Union.
In the Discussion the JD(U) learned that the said plat of land allotted previously to the Nagaland Govt is in question. The KSU has sent a clear message that they do not opposed to the construction of medical lodge, be if of the Nagaland or others North Eastern State.
The JD (U) said that the KSU in concern with the particular land which is in question, in this regard the JD(U) feels that the stand of the KSU is reasonable. From the NEEC made the suggestion to both the Government of Meghalaya and Nagaland to fine out an alternative site for construction of the Medical Lodge.
