The Orthopaedics department of NEIGRIHMS celebrates one decade of its services

Shillong, Sept 28: To commemorate a decade of its services of the Orthopaedics department. NEIGRIHMS recently organized three Regional Workshops on Advanced Arthroscopy for sports injuries, Operative fracture care principles and “Hands on training Suture Skills”.

The workshops were formally inaugurated on 24th September 2018 by the Chief Information Commissioner of Meghalaya Shri. P.B.O. Warjri; who recalled the notable contributions of the Orthopaedics department in particular and NEIGRIHMS as a whole in bringing advanced healthcare to the region.

The Director NEIGRIHMS Prof. D. M. Thappa formally released the Scientific Souvenir on 26th September in presence of other distinguished guests from IIT Guwahati. The Fracture care course was accredited by prestigious AO Trauma global network of Orthopaedic surgeons.

The suture skills training to trainees was led by London based Orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Samuel Prasad, FRCS Glasgow. The live surgery Arthroscopy workshop was conducted by Prof. Davinder Singh from Central Institute of Orthopaedics, New Delhi with the senior Orthopaedic surgeons of NEIGRIHMS.

Endorsing these two day training courses, the Medical Council of India has accredited these courses with 4 hours of credit points to the trainees. The courses were funded and supported by NEC, NEIGRIHMS, North East Regional Orthopaedic Surgeons’ Association and Arthroscopy Society of North East.
