The PHE department has written to the GHADC to hand over water supply schemes in Tura

Shillong, March 14: The Public Health Engineering minister Mr Prestone Tynsong  in his replay to the question asked by John Leslee K Sangma on water supply in Tura Town, the minister said that the reason that led to water scarcity in Tura Town is due to law discharge from the sources during lean season, drift of power supply and lost  during the course of distribution.

The minister  inform that house that the department has taken many step for the sustainability programme  to maintain the source of water by keeping green the area and through augmentation   where the work for phase one and phase two are in progress.

The MLA from Tura urged the minister if he could go to Tura to meet the people and explain to them on this request the Minister inform the house that water supply in the Tura town is looking by the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council but the department did not left alone to the GHADC.

The Department has written to the GHADC to hand over water supply in Tura to the Department since the GHADC does not have the expertise, but the department has not received any respond from the GHADC.

The MLA from Tura south, said that GHADC owe more than Rs. 24 cores to the department this is enough for the department to take over  the water supply in Tura Town, the minister said that it will look into it.
