Maligaon, Oct 28: The Railway Protection Force personnel of Guwahati led by Sub Inspector / R. K. Dubey of RPF/Post/ Guwahati was undertaking joint checking alongwith GRP/Guwahati of train no. 02423 DN Dibrugarh – New Delhi AC Special Rajdhani Express on 27.10.2020 at about 07:00 hrs.
During checking they found 02 persons in coach no A-1, berth no 31 & 33 carrying 02 trolley bags, 02 air bags and 01 backpack at Guwahati station.
On proper checking of their luggage it was found to contain 300 packets of foreign origin cigarette (total 60000 sticks of cigarette). As such, the recovered cigarette has been seized and the persons have been taken into custody by OC/GRP/Guwahati.
In this regard, OC/GRP/Guwahati registered one GD entry vide no. 583, dated 27.10.2020 and handed over the accused person along with cigarette bundles to Custom Department/Guwahati for further necessary action. Accordingly, the Custom Guwahati Division has registered a case. The value of the recovered Cigarette is Rs. 5, 00,000/- (Approx).
In another incident, CPDS team of the RPF under Alipurduar division of NFR conducted surprised check on 27.10.2020 at New Coochbehar station and found that 186 no un-booked tobacco bundles were lying at PF 6 & 7 shed of New Coochbehar station. On enquiry it was found that the tobacco was not booked by the parcel office.
Total tobacco weighed approx 9412 KG, and was to be booked from New Coochbehar to Rangiya. The same was seized and handed over to CS/ New Coochbehar for taking necessary action.CS/ New Coochbehar levied a fine of ₹ 6,450/- to the booking party.
