Maligaon, May 29: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of N.F. Railway has successfully intercepted the ways of smuggling of contraband goods and recovered narcotics and cannabises valued at Rs. 35.49 lakhs in Guwahati recently.
In one such case on 20 May, 2019, a team of RPF based at Guwahati recovered 500 grams morphine in plastic package valued at Rs. 35 lakhs . The packets were thrown away by some unidentified persons from the Train No. 12423 DN Rajdhani Express while the train was leaving Guwahati Railway Station. Later, the unclaimed morphine was handed over to Government Railway Police/Guwahati and a case was registered.
In another case on 21 May, 2019, a RPF team of Hojai under Lumding Division recovered 4 packets cannabis weighing about 7 kgs while conducting a routine check in Train No. 12526 Dibrugarh-Kolkata Express.The recovered cannabises were valued at Rs. 49 thousands.
