The RPF has arrested 57 touts from different railway station under the NF Railway

Maligaon, Nov 22: The Railway Protection Force of N.F. Railway has been successful in apprehending good number of touts over the year during special drive conducted at many places. These touts use to purchase railway tickets in false name by giving fake information/documents etc. and then sell the same to other passenger by taking a premium. These passenger while undertaking journey by train land into trouble as the ticket is in the name of someone else. Genuine railway passengers also faces problem as a result of the same.

To check the menace of touts, RPF has been conducting drive on receipt of information. In one such case on 15.11.2019, at about 11.10 hrs, officials of RPF/Rangiya conducted drive against touting activities at PRS Counter , Pathsala railway station, and apprehended one person named Bharat Singh, 28 yrs, son of late Biswanath Singh of Vill – Pathsala, with recovery of 02 PRS tickets bearing PNR No. 6336960626 and 6336964319 of train No. 15960 DN (Kamrup Express). Value of the recovered live tickets is Rs. 1,445/-. A case has been registered at RPF Post, Barpeta Road.

In another incident on 13.11.2019, at about 11.30 hrs, acting on information regarding touting activities by one Galaxy e-ticket Agency located at Bidhan Nagar Chowpathi, Jateswar, WB, a decoy check was made at the above Agency with arrest of the owner of the agency namely Gopal Sharma, son of Sri Badal Sharma alongwith recovery of 17 (Seventeen) e-Tickets, cash Rs. 5,200/-, one mobile hand set having SIM No. 8016038085 and 8250662946, 01 Dell Laptop. Value of the seized 17 railway E-tickets is Rs. 49, 626.86; out of which 13 are live e-Tickets valued Rs.  48,170.57 and 04 are used e-Tickets valued Rs. 1,456.29. In this regard, a case has been registered at RPF Post, New Coochbehar.

Again on 12.11.2019, acting on information regarding touting activities by one Travel Agency named Suman Tours & Travels, situated at Masjid Complex, Kalibari Road, Udharbond, Dist. Cachar (Assam), RPF / Silchar jointly conducted raid & search at  the said Agency with help of Local Police, Udharbond PS. The owner of the Agency namely, Suman Uddin Mazumder, 30 yrs, son of Safique Uddin Mazumder of vill: Durga Nagar, was apprehended during raid, with recovery of 18 future Railway E-Tickets bearing different PNR numbers, worth Rs. 17,803.60 and 07 used e-Tickets, Rs. 7,749.30 (Seven thousand seven hundred forty nine and thirty paisa only), which were generated by using personal ID. A case has been registered at RPF Post, u/s 143 Railways Act.

It may be mentioned here that during current year RPF of the NFR apprehended and prosecuted 57 touts from different areas within NFR jurisdiction along with seizure tickets and materials. RPF apprehended and prosecuted 51 touts in 2016, 33 touts in 2017 and 57 touts in 2018 respectively. NFR appeals to all railway passengers to purchase tickets either from PRS counters or IRCTC authorised agents only to avoid trouble during journey.
