The RPF of N.F. Railway detecting of contraband goods valued over Rs. 3.9 crs during 2020

Maligoan, Jan 18: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of N.F. Railway has been successful in detecting smuggling of contraband goods from railway premises and recovered narcotics and contraband items valued over Rs. 3.9 crs during 2020. 23 persons were also arrested in charges of carrying contraband items and were later handed over to appropriate authority alongwith seized materials for legal actions as per law.

In one such recent case, on 11.01.2021 RPF train escort party of train No. 02501 Dn (Agartala- New Delhi Special Rajdhani Exp) comprising Head Constable, Rana Dey along with Constable, H. R. Sing & Constable, Arun of RPF Post / Badarpur recovered 02 unclaimed bags containing Ganja, weighing about 16.5 kgs valued about Rs. 99,000/- (approx) from coach no B-7 of the said train in between Teliamura – Ambasa section. Later, the recovered Ganja was handed over to OC/GRP/Ambasa who registered a case in this regard.

It may be mentioned here that, RPF/NFR has also been in the fore front in rescuing the runaway, destitute / trafficked children in which 103 minor children were rescued with the arrest of 14 traffickers during the year 2020.

During the year 2020, RPF/NFR also detected 56 cases of theft of Railway Property with recovery of stolen Railway Property worth more than Rs.5.9 lakhs and arrest of 125 persons.
