The RPF of N. F. Railway rescued 546 persons this year; Also apprehended 20 traffickers

Maligaon, Nov 17: The alert Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway rescued 546 persons including minor children and women during January to October this year. All of them were rescued from trains and stations in different operations conducted over N. F. Railway.

The RPF also rescued 07 persons including minor boys and girls during 10th to 13th November, 2021 from trains or stations and handed them over to respective guardian or to Railway Childline for safe custody.

In one one such incident, online complaint was received through RailMadad on 13th November, 2021 regarding missing of one mentally challenged male person, a resident of Dhubri district of Assam.

The alert RPF, train escort party of train No. 05961 UP (Kamrup Special) detected the said person in the train and rescued him. Matter was informed to the parents over phone and later, the rescued person was handed over to his relative after proper identification.

On that day, RPF staffs of New Halflong, while checking in train No. 05488 DN (Agartala – Bengaluru Cantt Special) at New Halflong station jointly with GRP staff, rescued one runaway girl of Silchar (Assam). Information was given to her parents over phone and later, the rescued girl was handed over to her father after proper identification.

In another incident on 12th November, 2021 RPF team of Guwahati, while checking at Guwahati station, rescued one runaway minor boy, resident of Kishanganj district of Bihar. Later, the boy was handed over to the Railway Childline, Guwahati for his safe custody and further necessary action.

Again on 11th November, 2021 RPF team of Guwahati, while checking at Guwahati Railway station, rescued three runaway children belonged to Ranchi district of Jharkhand. They could not provide any contact number of their parents/relatives. Hence, they were handed over to the Railway Childline, Guwahati for their safe custody and further necessary action.

Moreover, on 10th November, 2021 RPF team of Guwahati and member of Childline, Guwahati conducted checking at Guwahati Railway station and rescued one runaway minor boy, a resident of Dhemaji district of Assam. Rescued boy was brought to RPF/Post/Guwahati. Later, the rescued boy was handed over to Railway Childline, Guwahati (Assam) for safe custody.

The RPF of N. F. Railway rescued 74 persons from being trafficked during January to October this year. RPF also apprehended 20 persons during this period who were involved in human trafficking.
