The RPF of NFR arrests 3 criminals on charges of theft and recover gold and cash

Maligaon, April 03:  The Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel of N.F. Railway have successfully arrested 23 criminals on charges of theft of passenger belongings during the period from January to March this year. The arrested criminals also include druggists who used to drug on train passenger on various pretext and loot their belongings.

In one such incident on 30.03.2019, at about 10 AM, a joint team of Crime Prevention & Detection Squad (CPDS) and Crime Investigation Branch (CIB) from RPF of Katihar comprising Inspector Anoop Tiwari, Head Constable R.K. Jaiswal, Constable Rakesh Kr. Singh Head Constable B. K. Dubey and Constable Ramashish Jha conducted a special drive at Katihar Railway station with active support of GRP of Katihar.

During the special drive the team arrested three persons namely, Kartik Mahto, aged about 35,  Sovind Kumar, aged about 25 and Aman Kumar, aged about 18 years from them Gold and silver ornaments worth Rs. 1, 50,000/- , 03 mobile phones, 06 trolley bags, 05 Backpacks, Rs. 80,000 in cash and Aadhar Cards which were stolen from railway passengers were recovered from the arrested person.

All the arrested persons with seized materials were later handed over to OC of GRP of Katihar who registered a case vide No.29/2019 dated 30.03.2019 u/s 379/411/414/34 IPC and 137/147 Railway Act.

It may be mentioned here that during the year 2018, Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel of N.F. Railway had successfully arrested 118 criminals on charges of drugging and theft of passenger belongings throughout N.F. Railway.
