Shillong, April 06: Mr Sayeedullah Nongrum,Meghalaya General Secretary Shillong Muslim Union said that the union has taken a decision not to have a Shab-e-Barat, night of forgivenessIbadat prayers in Masjid,Mosque and Ziyarat, pious visitation in Graveyards on 9th of April 2020 in East Khasi Hills and Ri-Bhoi District, Meghalaya .
Mr Nongrum said that the Shillong Muslim Union, the Management Committee of various Masjid and the Management Committee of the graveyards have collectively and unanimously decided not to hold Ibadat in the Masjid and Ziyarat in Kabristan due to the COVID-19 pandemic and instructions given by the District Administration on social distancing and public gatherings.
On behalf of the community, Mr Nongrum takes this opportunity to convey our sincere gratitude to the district and state administration for handling the situation so well, to augment your efforts in containing this situation.
The General secretary Mr Nongrum once again appeal to the members of the community and all stakeholders to refrain from coming out from their homes and observe the holy occasion in their individual homes on the occasion of Shab-e-Barat on 9 th April 2020, considering that this day is a very significant and auspicious for the Muslim community.
The Shillong Muslim Union also appeals to all the citizens of Meghalaya in particular and the country in general to kindly join in prayers in their individual homes and pray for the human race to fight against the Corona virus (COVID-19) pandemic as Shab-e-Barat is a very auspicious day.
Mr Sayeedullah Nongrum Mentioned that all together there are eleven Masjid, Lumdiengjri Masjid Lumdiengjri, Shillong, Bilal Masjid Mawbah, Shillong, Khan Masjid Diengsohpoh, Shillong . Laitumkhrah Masjid Lumsohpoh, Shillong, Polo Masjid 4th Furlong, Shillong, Police Bazaar Masjid Thana Road, Shillong, Laban Masjid Laban, Shillong, Madina Masjid Laban, Shillong, Nongpoh Masjid Nongpoh, Ri-Bhoi, Meghalaya, Byrnihat masjid Byrnihat, Ri Bhoi District , Dawki Masjid Dawki.
The four Kabristan are, Laban Kabristan, Shillong,Mawprem Kabristan, Shillong, Byrnihat masjid and Nongpoh Masjid, said Mr Sayeedullah Nongrum in the press statement issued today.
