Shillong, Feb 01: The Meghalaya Police inform that the Order was passed by Shri Noor Ain Khan (MHJS), Hon’ble Special Judge (POCSO), East Khasi Hills, District, Shillong in connection with Rynjah P.S. Case No. 53(07)2013 u/s 376/506 IPC Read with section 4/5 (f) (n) of the POCSO Act 2012.
The police inform that on 2nd July, 2013 one minor girl was raped by Shri. Henry Diengdoh many times and she was threatened with dire consequences. The case was reported to the Police and the case was registered. After investigation the case was charge sheeted and the trial proceeded. The Charge against the accused was proved beyond reasonable doubt.
On the 31st January, 2019, an accused person namely Henry Diengdoh was awarded 14 (fourteen) years Rigorous Imprisonment for the offence committed under section 6 of the POCSO Act 2012 with a fine of Rs. 5000/- (Rupees five thousand) only and in default of payment of fine the convict shall further undergo sentence of 3 (three) months simple imprisonment.
The Order was passed by Shri Noor Ain Khan (MHJS), Hon’ble Special Judge (POCSO), East Khasi Hills, District, Shillong in connection with Rynjah P.S. Case No. 53(07)2013 u/s 376/506 IPC Read with section 4/5 (f) (n) of the POCSO Act 2012.
Further the Court of Special Judge (POCSO), East Khasi Hills District, Shillong has also recommended compensation of Rs. 2,00,000/- (Rupees two Lakh) only to be paid to the victim by the State Government.
