Shillong, August 31: The state security commission today met to gear up for the selection for the new Director General of police for the state since the present that is holding charge Mr SK Jain IPS will retire soon. In today meeting the committee has review various issues pertaining to internal security apparatus of the state visa vis of the whole law and order situation and the security scenario and the overall responses of the police organization based on the decision taken by the state security commission.
Speaking to reporters Chief Minister Mukul Sangma said that in the earlier meeting their police have presented before the state security commission the overall scenario of the state vis a vis law and order scenario.
In the state security commission they have also discussing of the various other inputs pertaining to the names of the police officers who will be the next DGP, the state security commission to ultimately zero down on the panels for consideration for new regulars DGs in the state,” He further informed that based on the past experiences the state security commissions this time will asked thus police officer to send their indication that they are willing to serve in the state.
After getting their indication, that State Security Commission will list the probable officer who is full filling the condition as per police Act, then the Security Commission will be able to select who will be the new DGP.The commission has further directed they should take up with the officer concerns who are qualified and are eligible and subsequently put up before the commission.
