Shillong, July 19: The Co – Ordination Committee of the UDP – HSPDP Alliance, which met today resolved that the distribution of Seats in the Khasi – Jaintia Region. The UDP will contest in 17 Legislative Assembly, the HSPDP will contest in 10 Legislative Constituency and 9 Legislative Constituency are declare as open seat.
In the press statement issued today by Dr Kara Shen, Secretary, Co – Ordination Committee.UDP – HSPDP Regional Democratic Alliance stated that this decision was taken today at the Co-Ordination committee of the two party.
The constituency that was allotted for the UDP are, Khleihriat, Amlarem, Jowai, Raliang, Nartiang,Mawsynram, Shella, Pynursla, Nongthymmai, East Shillong, West Shillong, Mawlai, Umsning,Mawhati, Nongpoh, Ranikor and Mariang.
The HSPDP will contest from, Sutnga-Saipung, Nongkrem, Mylliem, Mawphlang,South Shillong, Pynthor, Jirang, Nongstoin, Rambrai and Mawkyrtwat.
The Co-Ordination Committee decided that nine constituencies will be an open seat, Mowkaiaw, North Shillong, Mawthadriashan, Mawshynrut, Mawryngkneng, Sohiong, Umroi, Sohra and Mawkynrew.
In this open seat, the present MLAs representing this constituency are, UDP from Sohra, Mawthadraishan and Mawkynrew, and Mawshynrut represent by the HSPDP MLA.
