Shillong, April 12: Meghalaya Chief Minister Mr Conrad K Sangma said that the world is facing an extraordinary challenge, as we fight the crisis of COVID-19. There is fear and there are uncertainties.

This Easter Sunday, citizens of Northeast and the rest of the country joined hands with Meghalaya to unitedly pray and seek God’s blessings and the much needed strength in times like these when the world is faced with a grave challenge — COVID 19 crisis.

The “Meghalaya Prays” initiative of Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, which was streamed and broadcasted live in various channels and social media platforms today at 6 pm, gained momentum with citizens across the region solemnly taking part in the hymns  “Amazing Grace” and “How Great thou art” with candles in their hands.

This Easter Sunday commemorates Jesus Christ’s resurrection from death; The victory over evil with the resurrection of Jesus Christ sparks hope and light into the world especially in troubled times such as these.

“This Easter Sunday, the prayer and hymn that we had, I hope and believe that the strength of every person will go up. I am happy that the prayer has gone well,” CM Conrad Sangma said.

Expressing his gratitude to the people for participating in the prayer hymns, Sangma said “This is truly a blessing for all of us as it has brought people from different states and from different parts of the world together to pray for our nation and the world.

The Chief Minister thank everyone who have helped make this happen and everyone who have participated and supported in ensuring that more and more people could be reached out through this prayer hymn. A blessed Easter Sunday to all of you.”
