The younger generation can realise the dream to eradicate the corruption by 2022: Thmar

Shillong, Nov 09: In accordance with the ongoing Vigilance Awareness Week all over the country, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam recently also celebrated the same with the theme “Eradicate Corruption-Build a new India” .

The programme was inaugurated on the by Smt Kala Rama Chandra, IPS and  Director, North Eastern Police Academy, Umiam, Meghalaya as Chief Guest. The oath taking ceremony was administered by Dr S.K Das, Principal Scientist and Vigilance Officer of the institute. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest of the function emphasizes about the roles and responsibility of every citizen to keep a strict vigil for good governance.

She also expressed that, it is the ethical duty of every citizen to inculcate such behaviour in our day to day activities. The week over awareness programme was scheduled with various competition on the theme of “Eradicate Corruption-Build a new India” such as; poster making, slogan writing, essay competition, extempore and quiz.

The valedictory function of the week long Vigilance Awareness Week was celebrated on 03rd November, 2018 at Dr. D. N. Borthakur Conference hall of the institute. The occasion was graced by Shri Spill Thamar SP, Ri-Bhoi, Nongpoh as the chief guest. Dr. S.K Das, Principal Scientist and Vigilance Officer of the institute welcomed the chief guest and briefed about the Vigilance Awareness Week celebrated in the institute.

The chief guest, Mr  Spill Thamar has spoken about the inculcation of ethics and the moral upbringing of the younger generation can realise the dream to eradicate the corruption by 2022.

He has cited various practical examples on the difficulties of police investigation due to lack of proper evidence in many corruption cases. The chief guest also felicitated the winner of different competition and distributed the prizes and certificates. The occasion was attended by all the staffs of the institute.
