They had made it very clear that we will only lend our moral support to JACATAM: Smti Bina

Shillong, July 28: The Federation of All Meghalaya Ad hoc Secondary Teachers Association (FAMASTA) of the Adhoc secondary teacher’s in the state has opposed the leaders of JACATAM for dragging the secondary teacher’s into their agitational programme without the knowledge of the central body FAMASTA, sai Smti Bina Kharumnuid president.

She said that they were never consulted the  FAMASTA for the ongoing agitation staged by them and has forcefully dragged secondary teachers to join the agitation programme and personally visited institutions without the knowledge of the FAMASTA.

According to Smti Kharumnuid  the executive meeting held on 25 July they have unanimously decided to skip the agitation programme scheduled by the Joint Action Committee of All Teachers’ Associations of Meghalaya (JACATAM) from July 27.They  had made it very clear that we will only lend our moral support to JACATAM for the benefit of the teaching fraternity but never said that we are going to join the agitation programme.

The  Vice President HM Jana said that FAMASTA has been fighting its own battle since 2014 and has been out of touch with JACATAM on grounds that JACATAM has totally neglected Adhoc Secondary Teachers for many years.It has been two years since we had no more links with the JACATAM, so how did JACATAM take these steps without the knowledge of the FAMASTA central Body.

From the organization  have issued a clear statement barring the adhoc secondary teachers not to join the JACATAM agitation programme but till today leaders of JACATAM has forcefully drag our teachers into their programme which is highly condemnable and unbearable,” she said adding that FAMASTA don’t trust the committee of JACATAM because they have never address the issue concerning the adhoc secondary teachers.

FAMASTA is  confined with the adhoc secondary teachers and we are not with the LP, UP or the Higher Secondary,” she said adding that all head of the institutions and managing committee members those who have adhoc secondary teachers in their institution to kindly cooperate with FAMASTA. Anju Kharthangmaw and Wadbor Sohiong, secondary teachers of Pomlakrai Presbyterian Sec. School and Wanbor Kharkongor of Green Hill HSS, Sohryngkham, in a separate conference said that they represented JACATAM as individual secondary teachers and clarified that they are not executive members of the FAMASTA. They  supported JACATAM because this committee was formed to address all the issue of the adhoc teachers in the state,” they said.
