Shillong, January 25 : Three Officers and one Naik of the Meghalaya Civil Defence & Home Guards organisation have been named as the recipients for the President’s Home Guards & Civil Defence Medal for Distinguished Service and Home Guards & Civil Defence Medal for Meritorious Service today on the eve of the Republic Day 2018.
Mr Sniawbhalang Rangad, Commandant of the Central Training Institute of Civil Defence & Home Guards, Mawdiangdiang and Shri Omar Thomson Shangpliang, Commandant of the Border Wing Home Guards Battalion, Mawdiangdiang were declared to be the recipients of the prestigious President’s Home Guards & Civil Defence Medal for Distinguished Service. They are the two sole HG &CD personnel from Northeast India to be awarded this medal apart from seven others from the rest of the Country.
Mr Merinpole K Sangma, Joint Director of Civil Defence & Joint Commandant General of Home Guards and Shri Bransley Sohphoh, Naik, Civil Defence, Nongstoin were named as the recipients of the President’s Home Guards & Civil Defence Medal for Meritorious Service. They are two amongst 24 HG & CD personnel from all over India, who were conferred with this medal on the occasion of Republic Day.
