To Celebrate World Environment Day 2020 CISF planted 12000 sapling across NE State

Shillong, June 05: On the occasion of the World Environment Day, CISF North East Sector units and NRC Coys have together planted more than 12000 saplings across in their Area of deployment.

The sapling includes various fruits bearing trees and medicinal plants including Gulmohar, Litchi, Ashoka, Imli, Amla, Jamun, Bel Patra, Sonaru, Sitafal, Arjun, Bhowara, Ritha, Orange, Kathal, Mango, Jalfai, Tamul, Silikha etc.

By the end of this year, all the units of North East Sector, CISF will plant 40,000 saplings across districts of Assam, Arunachal, Meghalaya and Nagaland.

North East Sector CISF is committed to further institutionalize relationships with people belonging to various ethnic groups of the North East Region and work in unison to build a stronger India.

The CISF was established in 1969 and today they have 330 CISF units in the country and in North Eastern State there are 26 CISF, their duties is to provide security cover to the important installation of the Government and  certain key industry in the private sector.

In the North East Region, 26 CISF units are scattered across States of Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland and Tripura including the airports. Mostly these units are responsible for providing security cover to Oil Fields, oil pumping Station, refineries and hydropower projects and its headquarter for NE States is in Beharbari in Guwahahti.

The CISF Units across North East have come forward in the hour of COVID-19 crisis and devoted themselves to the cause of humanity by extending help to lower strata of society.

These units have distributed ration, masks, sanitizers and hand-wash to deprived people and migrant workers. Apart from this, 25 Coys of CISF are actively engaged with the local administration of districts in Assam for law and order duty related to NRC exercise.

These Coys have also played pivotal role across 17 districts of Assam in ensuring lockdown on account of COVID-19 pandemic and have distributed ration, masks and other utensils to local needy people in their respective area of deployment.

These 25 Coys of CISF have played vital role in completion of the NRC exercise and in the last 22 months they have carved a niche for themselves by playing a vital role in helping the police and the local administration of districts across Assam.

They have also participated in various community development works through Shramdan and sapling plantation and have also carried out cleanliness drive around their camp areas.
