To develop rural marketing the MLCU organised a two event called Synergy 2017

Shillong Novembr 8: With the aim of developing and uplifting rural marketing and also recognising the entrepreneurial opportunities in the rural sector and to enhance and develop these opportunities, particularly in Northeast and Meghalaya, the Department of Management and Commerce Studies, Martin Luther Christian University organised a two event called Synergy 2017 with Rural Marketing as its theme on November 7 and 8, 2017 in the University campus in Nongrah.

This event was attended by participants from St. Anthony’s college, University of Technology and Management, ICFAI University, Umshyrpi College and Shillong College. Various competitions were organised under the theme “Rural Marketing”, which included debate, quiz, role playing and new product development.

Speaking as the chief guest of the inaugural function, the Chancellor of the University, Dr Glenn C Kharkongor, applauded the department in organising such an event and bring forth the many different aspects of rural marketing for it upliftment and development.

The head of the department Dr Rupa Bakor Kharshiiing said that the Rural markets offer an inevitable and exciting opportunity for both expansion and sustainable growth and that it is imperative that organizations actively develop an inclusive strategy to include rural consumers in their business offerings.

The event also hosted many speakers which included Mr Vijay Byrsat the founder of Centre of Learning, Knowledge and Services (COLKS), Mr Poirei K Sanase, the founder of Polaris Solutions and Mr Pynkynmawlang Rymmai, the Shillong Branch Manager, North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NEDFi).

Winners of the different comptitions held over the course of the two days are New Product Development- 1st prize: St Anthony’s College 2nd prize: St. Anthony’s College, 3rd Prize UTM. In the debate competition the  Winner- St Anthony’s College Quiz: 1st, 2nd 3rd place- St Anthony’s College in Role Play- 1st prize: UTM, 2nd prize: St Anthony’s College, 3rd Prize ICFAI
