To maintain Cleanliness of some important stations N.F Railauwat  monitored by CC TV

Maligaon, Sept  16:  A massive campaign to promote awareness about cleanliness has started today in N.F. Railway. This campaign has been launched as part of the country wide drive to educate people through Information, Education and Communication activities about the use of Bio-toilets, resisting use of plastic in railway premises and observing good sanitation habits by avoiding open defecation etc. for keeping railway track clean.

As part of the “Swachhta Pakhwara” General Manager, N.F. Railway Shri Sanjve Roy addressed the media person at Maligaon today. In his speech, General Manager explained in detail about the campaign being launched from today. He said that as railway track is spread throughout the country touching every nook and corner, railways can play a much bigger role to promote cleanliness.

For this N.F. Railway has already started awareness campaign through display advt, nukkad nataks, banners, posters, audio jingles through FM channels and campaign through Social media platforms throughout N.F.

Railway so that all section of people can be reached upon. Moreover, a massive “Shramdan” will be organised on 17th September by the railway fraternity in railway premises where retired railway personnel, family members of railway employees apart from other stake holder will also participate. Emphasis will be on collecting waste plastic from places like, platform, train, tracks, hospital, school, colony etc.

General Manager also mentioned that, authorised vendors at railway stations are being educated about avoiding single use plastic. It may be mentioned here that, apart from providing bio-toilets in train; N.F. Railway has also provided separate dustbins for bio and non-bio degradable items in railway premises for use of railway passengers.

Railway stations are being cleaned regularly. Cleanliness of some important stations is also being monitored by CC TV. And all the 664 railway catering stalls in N.F. Railway have already been asked to use only re-cycle able plastic for packaging of food with effect  from 15th September.

All these efforts are being undertaken so that everyone acts in a direction to live in a clean and hygienic environment. As part of the Swachhta Pakhwara, each day upto 30th September will be observed targeting monitoring and improvement of different aspects related to cleanliness and hygiene.
