Touts were arrested by the RPF for illegal selling of train ticket from different location

Maligaon, Nov 27: The drives against person and  agency that are selling railway tickets illegally have been intensified further in recent times. Railway Protection Force (RPF) has been successfully arresting touts in many locations throughout N.F. Railway by conducting special checking.

During one such drive on 15.11.18, at about 11.30 hrs, Inspector RPF of Badarpur S.A Khan along with Asst Sub Inspector and  Asish Das and Asst Sub Inspector and  Arobinda Roy conducted raid at HI-TECH SYSTEM, located near Police Point S. T. Road, Badarpur, Dist. Karimganj (Assam) and apprehended the owner of the shop namely, syed sadikur rahman.

The articles used in the shop that is two computer sets with accessories and other related documents were seized. In course of preliminary enquiry it is learnt that more than 200 railway journey e-tickets were booked in the name of different persons by using different user IDs and e-mail address. Total value of tickets sold is Rs.1, 85,280/-. In this regard, a case has been registered at RPF Post, Badarpur vide No. 159/2018 dated 15.11.20418 u/s 143 Railways Act.

In another such similar case, on 10.11.2018 at about 11.35 hrs, Crime Prevention and Detection Squad (CPDS) Team from Maligaon and New Jalpaiguri alongwith Inspector RPF/CIB/Alipurduar Shri P. P. Jha and staff of New Jalpaiguri Post apprehended one person namely Pradip Paul, M / 60 years of Jalpaiguri (West Bengal) from PRS counter No. 2 of New Jalpaiguri station with recovery of two railway journey tickets vide PNR , 6721765004 of Train No. 15483 Ex. New Jalpaiguri to Delhi 6721764792 of Train no 13150 DN Ex. New Jalpaiguri to Sealdah, Valued Rs. 2,060.00, one filled reservation form of Train no 12501 Ex New Jalpaiguri to New Delhi and two blank reservation forms and cash Rs 1,530/-.

On asking he could not produce any authority for buying and possessing of the above tickets and forms. He further confessed that he has been doing the business of buying and selling railway journey tickets unauthorizedly, for about one year for his personal gains and  profits. The apprehended person along with the seized items was handed over to Inspector RPF/New Jalpaiguri who registered a case vide No.564/18 dated.10.11.2018 U/S 143 Railway Act.

It may be mentioned here that Railway authority has been continuously conducting drives against such touts throughout N.F. Railway and also regularly alert passenger not to buy tickets from such touts to avoid problem during train journey.
