Shillong, July 28: The office of the District Disaster Management Authority, South West Khasi Hills District, Mawkyrwat conducted a two day Training cum Mock Drill on Search and Rescue & First Aid for School Teachers, NGO’s, Village Volunteers and Self Help Groups on 27th & 28th July, 2016 at the Multi Purpose Hall, Deputy Commissioner’s office, South West Khasi Hills District, Mawkyrwat.
The Training cum Mock Drill was organized with a view to create awareness as well as to keep the public informed of the eventualities that might arise due to natural calamities and to make them prepared in the event of unforeseen disasters.
The programme is a part of preparedness and safety measures under Disaster Management Plan and it is hoped that through such training and demonstration people would be informed of the precautionary measures that they ought to take in the event of such disaster in order to mitigate, minimize and alleviate the suffering of the people.
Training facilities on Search and Rescue Operations, First Aid Treatment to the wounded cum mock Drill was imparted to the people.
