Two day Indo-Bangla: Joint Multispecialty Medical Camp was held at Umsyiem, in India

Shillong, May 11: The Confidence building measure are growing to newer heights between the border guarding forces of India and Bangladesh. Several joint ventures are being organized between both the countries.

In continuation to the an efforts to maintain friendly relationship among both the countries i.e. India and Bangladesh, both the DG’s of BSF India and BGB Bangladesh decided to collaborate and organize multispecialty medical camp on 11thMay 2018 at India&on 12th May 2018 at Bangladesh border area.

Today Composite Hospital BSF Shillong representing India in collaboration with 06 Bangladeshi Doctors organized multispecialty medical camp at Umsyiem, India for border population residing in the nearby area of the locality deprived of specialized treatment.

The Camp was inaugurated jointly by sector commander BGB Mr Nasir and Dr A C Bhardwajan, DIG/Medical Superintendent, BSF Composite Hospital Shillong.The medical camp conduced for the first time under Confident Building Measures is aimed to provide medical attention to the poor and needy residents in border belt.

The two day camp being organized jointly by  Sector Head Quarter BSF Jowai and Sector Sylhet BFB on 11th and 12th May 2018 at BOP Dawki on India side and Tamabil on BD side respectively will also foster better understanding between border population of both sides and the Forces.

During the medical camp approx 300 local including male, female and children were examined  and provided required consultation, advise and medication. 100 nos. of children were given due checkup by the pediatrician, 70 nos. of female were checked by Gynaecologist, surgical checkup for30nos of civil population was done, 40 nos of civil population were checked by medical specialist and 57 nosof civil population were screened by general physician and 01 lady doctor.05 nos of inhabitants were advised surgical procedure for different ailments diagnosed by surgical specialist of  border residence.

The villagers from villages Umsyiem, Khongwang, Umkrem, Pyrdwah under East Khasi Hills District and Dawki, Bakur under West Jaintia Hills Districts have expressed gratitude to BSF for the service rendered to them. Besides these facilitiestoday the BSF medical team also organized screening camp for diabetes and Hepatitis B & C.

All the patients were screened and provided medication alongwith the suitable advices. Similar medical comp will be organized on Bangladesh side on Saturday where BSF doctors will assist Bangladesh counterparts while providing medical advice to Bangladesh  nationals.

The multispecialty medical team of Composite Hospital BSF Shillong was headed by Dr A C Bhardwajan, DIG(Med)/MS comprising specialists from the field of surgery, medical specialist, Gynaecologist, Paeditrician and general physician including 01 lady doctor.
