Shillong, August 03: The police based on source information that a mixed group of NDFB cadres along with several Garo miscreants numbering about 10 in numbers were taking shelter near Tarasin village.
Base on the information an operation was launched early today morning and the miscreants who were armed with assault rifles n pistols fired at the police team while they were approaching the village.
During the operation at around 6:00 AM in the miscreants’ fired at the police force and after a brief exchange of fire many of the miscreants managed to flee while one of them died on the spot where the encounter took place.
In the encounter one person was found death and he has been identified by one of the source as Mr Koma Boro of the NDFB. From the site one AK rifle along with 1 magazine was also recovered from d possession of the deceased.
It is suspected that 3-4 miscreants may have been injured as there were many other blood trails in the place of occurence. The dead body is being sent for P.M. and a case is being registered in connection with the same.
The police said that he was d one coordinating with the NDFB n he was there during the encounter. He was intercepted at Rongmil from a Winger proceeding towards Assam, Rimpu was former GNLA cadre of the first batch. He was d one whose video was circulated of him stopping a bus full of forest guards during his GNLA time.
Police said that one from the group of NDFB who escape from the encounter was lynched by the mob under Rongjeng Police Station he was identified as Mr Aita Boro, the police claim that he was the one who coordinated with the NDFB he was there during the encounter.
