Shillong, November 21: The Police of West Jiantia Hills District on 20th November, 2017 afternoon, acting on intelligence inputs two persons identified as Mr Khroo Lamsalanki Pariat 39 years of Iawmusiang Jowai and Mr Samir Jolly 44 years of Noida, Utter Pradesh were intercepted at Dawki P.C.P. Both of them were heading to Sylhet, Bangladesh for a meeting with top members of the banned outfit, the Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC). The meeting was scheduled to be held today the 21.11.2017.
The two at first did not disclose their purpose until further interrogation was made, where it was clearly ascertained that the arrested persons were in close communication with members of the HNLC through its Publicity Secretary, Mr. Sainkupar Nongtraw and other top cadres. The arrested persons claim that their intension is to meet top members of the HNLC through the Art of Life and have talks.
However they do not have any mandate or authorisation by the State to hold parleys with a banned organisation under the U.A.P Act and hence their whole motive to visit Bangladesh is suspect in nature with an ulterior motive which merits crucial investigation.
A case vide Dawki PS Case No. 15(11)2017 U/S 120B IPC R/w Section 10/13 U.A.P Act is registered against the arrested persons and leaders of the HNLC. Mr. Khroo Lamsalanki Pariat and Mr. Samir Jolly have been arrested and produced in the Jowai District Court for custodial remand.
