Two persons with huge hawala money arrested on IB from Borsora of SWKH District

Shillong, May 08: The Border Security Force troops showing extra alertness to prevent any trans-border crime on the International Border. Acting on a tip-off regarding illegal excess money generated from coal and stone business the vigilant BSF troops 11 BN deployed at Borsora in South West Khasi Hills Distt of Meghalaya on 7th May’2019,at about 1645 hrs, apprehended 02 Indian national namely Raj Chetry of Khonjoy and  Golachan of  Barsora of  South West Khasi Hills District

Initially BSF apprehended Raj Chetry while he was moving from Barsora to Khonjoy in a bike and and recovered Rs.1,96,500/- cash from his possession. Further based on information divulged by him, BSF apprehended another person Golachan from his residence and recovered Rs.17.93 Lacs cash.

It is learnt that Golachan collected a sum of Rs. 20 Lacs from one person from Bara Bazar, Shillong (Meghalaya), who deals in fruit business, on behalf of one  exporter of coal and lime stone, from Barpetta (Assam)

This delivery and distribution was closely monitored by a Bangladesh based importer from  vill- Barsora, PS Tahirpur,  Distt Sunamganj (BD) who controls this system through WhatsApp from Bangladesh. It also came to light that they used a distorted Rs.10/- currency note for identification purpose during the transaction.

The BSF has stepped up its special drive against such racketeers on International Border and has intensified its operations on the Indo-Bangladesh Border to prevent nefarious design of trans-border criminals to maintain tranquility in bordering areas of Meghalaya state. It is also to mention that IG BSF, Meghalaya has deployed additional troops   to fill the gaps for effective border domination.
