Union Coal Minister assured Mr Conrad for finding an early solution to coal band in State

New Delhi, April 15: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma called on Union Coal Minister Piyush Goyal in New Delhi today along with State PWD Minister Prestone Tynsong, Tourism Minister Metbah Lyngdoh and Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Banteidor Lyngdoh. In the meeting Officials from the Ministry of Coal were also present in the meeting.

The Chief Minister along with his cabinet colleagues discussed on way forward to operational coal mining in Meghalaya with thrust on balance between environment and economic activity related to mining. The issue of NGT ban on coal mining in Meghalaya was discussed at length.

“Coal mining is important for the state and the region. It is important that a balance is strike considering the fragile environment. We discussed on ways to initiate coal mining in the State”, informed Chief Minister.

The Union Minister has given a positive response to the suggestions and ideas put forward by the Chief Minister and his cabinet colleagues. “The Union Minister has assured finding an early solution to the problem”, the Chief Minister added.
