Shillong, Oct 26: The Chief Executive Member of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council Mr HS Shylla speaking to media after the special Session in his chamber said that they will meet the Chief Minsiter Mr Conrad K Sangma to explain to him the legality on the ka Khasi Hills Autonomous District (Inner Line as adopted from the Eastern Frontier Regulation, 1873 Regulation Bill 2018.
On the remark made by the Chief Minister on the ILP, the CEM of the KHADC did not say anything but he said they will meet the Chief Minister and explain to him, since the District Council has followed all the procedure as required as per the United Khasi-Jiantia Hills District (Application of Laws) Regulation 1952.
The CEM of the KHADC, said that the Christian Marriage Act 1872 implemented by the District Council derives it sources of law from the United Khasi-Jiantia Hills District (Application of Laws) Regulation 1952. Pastors who solemnized marriages have to take license from the District Council.
The United Khasi-Jiantia Hills District (Application of Laws) Regulation 1952, that was adopted by the District Council has got the assent of the president of India in the years 1952, these are central laws but adopted by the District Council for implementation with the jurisdiction of the KHADC.
